SRE is no longer just about keeping the lights on. It’s about performance as a product feature, reliability as a competitive edge, and engineering culture that can scale under pressure.

But as the role of SRE evolves, so do the questions we need to ask.

That’s why we’re excited to launch the next instalment of the SRE Survey—our annual, practitioner-driven initiative to capture the pulse of the global reliability community. Whether you’re hands-on or simply invested in reliability, your voice is essential in building a comprehensive picture of what’s working, what’s changing, and what’s next for our field.

Why participate?

Your insights power the industry’s most in-depth, practitioner-focused SRE report. Each response helps us benchmark trends, surface emerging best practices, and highlight the realities of reliability work across organizations of all sizes. The survey is voluntary, anonymous, and takes about 10 minutes to complete—yet the impact of your participation is profound.

What’s new this year?

This year, we’re diving deeper into the themes that matter most to modern SREs:

  • Performance and reliability modeling:
How rigorously does your organization tie performance to business value? We’re exploring whether teams financially model downtime, evaluate the business impact of performance improvements, and treat degradation with the same seriousness as outages.
  • Chaos & resilience engineering:
What’s your appetite for proactive failure testing? We want to know how often chaos experiments are run in production and how mature organizations are in tolerating failure injection in live environments.
  • Observability and monitoring practices:
Which detection and prevention strategies do teams actually rely on? From active vs. passive monitoring to AI-based anomaly detection, SLOs, alerting, dashboards, load testing, and capacity planning—we’re mapping the real-world state of observability.
  • Learning and upskilling:
How much do organizations invest in continuous reliability education? We’re assessing the time teams spend on technical learning each month and whether that time is protected or ad hoc.
  • Tooling strategy:
Is your toolchain fragmented or streamlined? We’re investigating preferences for best-of-breed vs. integrated platforms and the operational cost of connecting and integrating tools.

Help us create the most complete picture yet

Every single response brings us closer to a true reflection of the global SRE community. By sharing your experiences, you’re not only shaping the next SRE Report—you’re helping practitioners everywhere benchmark their work, advocate for change, and drive reliability forward.

Ready to make your voice heard?

Take the survey today and help us advance the practice of SRE for everyone. And if you can, please share the survey link with your network—every participant counts. https://www.catchpoint.com/sre-survey

Thank you for your continued commitment to making digital services better, more resilient, and more reliable for all. The future of SRE is shaped by you.
